Project Description:

The objective of this study is to review the land use priorities, develop a land use plan and suggest findings based on the best practices, formulate zoning regulations and zoning plan based on the land use plan and the priorities provided by the previous consultant, perform a feasibility analysis for the proposed projects and develop an action plan(s). This study has provided guidance strategically aligned with AKDN’s Habitat Plan (HP). The HP provides a framework for a pan-regional rural and urban planning approach to the built environment created to address AKAH’s practices and needs. The project includes the alignment and use of the HP framework and expansion of the process and information thereof – wherein each step of the planning framework has been aligned with the outputs provided. The sharing of findings from this report has been informed to AKAH, the AKDN, and other relevant key stakeholders, including partners and donor agencies.

    1. Review Social and Economic Priorities
    2. Review Physical and Land-Use Priorities
  • Modify/Develop a layout plan
    1. Modify/Develop the general layout plan.
    2. Develop a plan showing existing building footprints and plot layouts.
    3. Develop plans for social infrastructure (civic spaces, hierarchy of parks, plazas)
    4. Develop plans for physical infrastructure (Mobility, water, and wastewater, power, solid waste) with sufficient details to lead construction level drawings. In addition, there should be provisions for integrated green infrastructure where the whole would contribute to resilience and climate conscious use of resources.
    5. Indicate the opportunity sites and develop framework details of the vision for the opportunity sites with the potential to regenerate the area.
